The Italian Yamaha rider, Valentino Rossi, has won the first MotoGP race of the year in Catar. After a thrilling final battle, Dovizioso ended second and Iannone third.

After a very good start, Dovizioso kept the lead followed by Lorenzo and Iannone. Behind, Márquez went wide and was last after the first lap. Lorenzo overtook Dovizioso and got first place, while Márquez was already 14th in lap 2.

The first 3 positions remained the same while Rossi and Pedrosa tried to catch them from behind. Meanwhile, Márquez was 8th.

15 laps before the end of the race, Márquez was 6th behind his teammate Dani Pedrosa. At the lead, Dovizioso overtook Lorenzo and started fighting, which allowed Rossi to get to the leading group.

The fight continued while Márquez overtook Pedrosa and tried to catch the group, but their pace was very good and Marc could barely reduce the gap. Iannone couldn’t keep the pace of the other three and the fight seemed to be between Lorenzo, Rossi and Dovizioso. However, 3 laps to go and Lorenzo lost positions until he was 4th.

Finally, Rossi won the first race of the season when Dovizioso wasn’t able to overtake him. Iannone was 3rd, Lorenzo 4th, Márquez 5th and Pedrosa 6th.
