Nico Rosberg set the fastest time of the second free-practice session of the American Grand Prix ahead of Daniel Ricciardo and Lewis Hamilton.

The session started with a quarrel between Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso, the German blocking Alonso during his first laps. A little later, Esteban Ocon provoked the first yellow flag of the session with a spin, without damage for the Frenchman.

With thirty minutes to go, drivers started their long runs with tanks heavy of fuel. Let’s notice that the Red Bull were way faster than the Ferrari and that Hamilton was faster than Rosberg.

A red flag was deployed to retrieve some debris on track. When the session went green, Jolyon Palmer spun like in the morning but the British driver eventually rejoined the track. Carlos Sainz also spun in the last moments of the session, destroying his set of mediums.

Rosberg set the fastest time of the session with super-soft tyres and went faster than Hamilton’s time in the morning. Ricciardo settled in between the two Mercedes, two tenths away from Rosberg while Vettel was fourth tenths away from Hamilton in third. Verstappen, Hülkenberg, Pérez, Button, Alonso and Räikkönen completed the top 10.
