Daniel Ricciardo set the fastest time of the first free-practice session ahead of Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen.


With a 1:42.489, Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) set the fastest time in FP1 and the new record of Marina Bay at Singapore. He is ahead of Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) by 0.1s and Max Verstappen (Red Bull). Further in the back, Lewis Hamilton placed Mercedes 4 tenths adrift.

Sergio Perez (Force India) was 5th, 9 tenths away from the Australian and ahead of Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes). Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) was 1 second away from the fastest time and ahead of Fernando Alonso (McLaren) and Nico Hülkenberg (Renault). Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso) completed the top 10 ahead of Stoffel Vandoorne (McLaren).

The second Renault driver, Jolyon Palmer (Renault) finished 12th ahead of Esteban Ocon (Force India) and Felipe Massa (Williams). The Haas F1 Team of Romain Grosjean and Antonio Giovinazzi, in Kevin Magnussen’s car, follow ahead of Lance Stroll (Williams) and Sean Gelael in Carlos SainzToro Rosso. The Sauber of Marcus Ericsson and Pascal Wehrlein completed the timesheets.

No incident was to report after the session. Both Ricciardo and Räikkönen spent the first minutes to test the Halo.
