Pocono Raceway will house the Indycar Series at least the next two seasons after reach a deal with the organization of the American championship.


Pocono Raceway will remain in the calendar of the Indycar Series the next two years at least. Circuit organizers have reach a deal for so that the race is held in 2017 and 2018, on flights half August.

Remember that the circuit located in the state of Pennsylvania reappeared in calendar 2013 after two decades of absence. Such proof of return won the past series champion, Scott Dixon. The agreement arrives just before the edition takes place on next weekend of 20 and 21 August.

Here are the words about this renewal of contract by the chief of the IndyCar, Jay Frye:

“We’re thrilled to announce today’s two-year extension with Pocono Raceway – an iconic oval track with a long history of hosting great open-wheel racing events. It’s very clear that Pocono is one of the favourites amongst the drivers, teams and fans of the IndyCar Series and we look forward to competing there for the foreseeable future. We’d also like to thank [Pocono President and CEO] Brandon Igdalsky and his entire team for all their efforts to make this event a success and we look forward to our race there on August 21.”
