Pietro Fittipaldi, nephew of former F1 driver Emerson Fittipaldi, continues with Fortec Motorsports but graduates to Formula V8 3.5.

The 19 year-old Brazilian driver, 2014 Protyre Formula Renault champion joined Fortec Motorsports in 2015 for the European Formula 3 campaign. He faced a difficult season, especially at Pau where he broke his hand while qualifying. He is the only Fortec driver to score points, 32 points, and ends up the championship at the 16th place. He joins the new Formula V8 3.5 championship and its challenges:

“I am very pleased to continue working with Fortec in this new chapter of my career. The championship will be very competitive, so I know that it’s going to be a big challenge.”

He will be paired with another rookie in the name of Louis Deletraz, 2015 Eurocup runner-up and NEC champion in Formula Renault 2.0. This pair delights team manager Jamie Dye.

“We are delighted to announce that Pietro will remain in the Fortec family. Our relationship has grown well over the last year and there is trust from both sides. We all know we can do the job and can’t wait to get started.”

Before facing this new challenge, Fittipaldi will take part of the last round of the MRF Challenge, championship he is leading at the moment ahead of Columbian driver Tatiana Calderon.
