Since Mercedes came back to Formula 1 they have been always together with Petronas as one of their mane shareholders and, like everyone can imagine, the team use their fuel and their lubricants to boost the silver arrow that have dominated the last era on F1. Today, the malaysian reveal really interesting information.


The brand, who travel with Mercedes anywhere they go with an itinerant lab, they are really satisfied with their profesional relationship with the brits. Any single advantage in F1 could mean a key factor when, in a qualifying a sngle tenth could mean have the pole position or not. So, the compromise must be maximum.

“The competitive advantage that our products bring to Mercedes it’s rated in 2 tenths by lap”, tells marketing director of Petronas, Jacques Chemidlin, and explains which is their modus operandi, “our engineers travel through all the season and do lots of test every day. The samples not only from Mercedes, because they force their costumers to use or products for reliability.”

So, Petronas have information, not only from a winning car as is Mercedes, they have it also from the revelation of the championship, Force India, and the data that Williams can provide. With all this they can confirm, that their gain is 2 tenths and, for sure that gave a lot of poles in 2017.

“This partnership with the tea. improves our global branding and that gives us a technological platform. I’m quite sure that we will play an important rol on the team”, says Petronas president Datuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Arriffin. It was an important moment when, at the exit of the Malaysian GP from F1 calendar rumours suggested that Petronas could go away but finally, the brand remains with Mercedes, where common sense won.
