Alex Palou has taken pole position for the first race of the World Series Formula V8 3.5 weekend at the Nürburgring. Catalan made his debut in the series reaching the preferred position thanks to the rain.

The always undecided, meteorologically speaking, Nürburgring has been key in today’s qualifying.

The drivers knew that with a covered sky the rain could appear at any moment. This has happened and has benefited debutant Alex Palou (Teo Martin Motorsport) to get the pole position with a lap time of 1:42.174.

The Catalan got a perfect lap just before the rain was over, he is 7 tenths ahead of Pietro Fittipaldi (Lotus). The top3 is completed by the Russian Matevos Isaakyan (SMP Racing by AVF).

He is followed by title contenders Alfonso Celis (Fortec Motorsports), Egor Orudzhev (SMP Racing by AVF) and Roy Nissany (RP Motorsport). The other title contender, René Binder (Lotus) will start from tenth position.
