Josef Newgarden has dominate lights to flag the IndyCar today’s race at Iowa Speedway, USA. The American finished ahead of Power and Dixon in the podium. Pagenaud 4th continues in the top of the championship.

Welcome to Iowa Speedway the track that’s less than 1 mile longer. Simon Pagenaud (Team Penske) started on pole position but the Frenchman lost this place at the start with Josef Newgarden (Ed Carpenter Racing) who had a great run before the first pit stop, where the Tenesse driver overtook all the drivers except Pagenaud.

In a very quiet race, the first yellow flag made appearance on lap 108. Former race winner at Iowa, Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport) watches how his engine broke. So this was a great opportunity for many driver to get back into lead lap during the second pit stop.

Despite this situation, Newgarden made a gap a gain with Pagenaud before the third pit stop that took part under yellow flag due to Juan Pablo Montoya (Team Penske) engine issues.

When the green flag returned Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing) managed to overtake the Penske’s of Power and Pagenaud for second place before the last pit stop that was done also under yellow flag situation.

This Caution was caused by Max Chilton (Chip Ganassi Racing) who spun off at turn 2. With 40 laps to go, Power managed to pass Pagenaud and Dixon for a final second position.

But no one was able to stop Josef Newgarden today who takes his first victory this season, his first ever win in an oval, and his third in IndyCar. The American is now second in the drivers’ standings, 73 points behind Pagenaud. Power is third -75 points behind, Dixon fourth -88 points behind, and Castroneves fifth -91 points behind.
