Nirei Fukuzumi took pole position in Jerez under the chequered flag ahead of his ART Grand Prix teammates: Jack Aitken and George Russell.

All the drivers went on track as soon as the green flag was waved but after only two laps, all the ART Grand Prix pitted for a few minutes. Meanwhile, Dorian Boccolacci (Trident) had an off-track moment in the gravel, imitated by Bruno Baptista (DAMS) a couple of minutes afterwards.

The first half of the session is, unsurprisingly, was dominated by the ART GP, Jack Aitken leading from George Russell and Anthoine Hubert. Halfway through the session, all the drivers pitted to put new tyres on.

With 4 minutes to go, Russell claimed the provisional fastest time ahead of Daniel Ticktum (DAMS). Aitken fought back but couldn’t do better than 4th in his first attempt. The British driver then set the fastest time but was overtaken by Nirei Fukuzumi just after him.

Nirei Fukuzumi set his second pole position in GP3 Series, the first one from a qualifying session, ahead of Jack Aitken and George Russell. Ticktum, Hubert, Lorandi, Boccolacci, Kari, Calderón and Schothort completed the top 10.
