The German driver will run his second season in the competition with the Prema team, which extends his lineup to five drivers.

As we advanced three weeks ago in this website, Mick Schumacher, son of seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher, will race again in Formula 3 category after renewing his contract with the Italian team Prema Powerteam, considered one of the best teams in the competition.

The young driver of 18 years, debuted last season in the category, where he obtained a twelfth position in the general, getting a podium in Monza and a fast lap in the Macao circuit. This year he will need better results if he wants to make the leap next season to Formula 2 and have options to get to F1.

Remaining linked to Prema team is very good news for Mick, since apart from being one of the leading teams of the competition, they also have a winning car in F2, as was demonstrated last season with Charles Leclerc, who won the championship. It is a team “customer” of Ferrari team, which opens more doors if possible to a future in F1.

To get some options, he must improve his results in F3, and he is quite confidence to do it: “The competition in Formula 3 is tough, strong and tight; it is enriching to fight at this level; I very much look forward to racing here for another season,” said Mick, adding: “The fact that I can continue working with a professional team like Prema can only help me move forward, I am convinced that we can live together more exciting moments”.

The Prema team leader, Rene Rossin, also showed his happiness to continue counting on Mick: “We are happy and proud to have Mick with us again for 2018. Last year he faced a challenging debut season, moving on from Formula 4, but he showed great personality and great potential, so we expect him to make him to make further gains this season”.

Schumacher will share team with Marcus Armstrong, Robert Shwartzman, Ral Aron and Guan Yu Zhou.
