The most excepted F1 car of 2017 has been unveiled today at Silverstone by Mercedes AMG F1.
The date of presentation being the same than the promotional shakedown, the first pictures of the new Mercedes were leaked before the actual presentation time. The actual complete name of the car was revealed as Mercedes-AMG F1 W08 EQPower+.
The first striking thing about the Mercedes is the absence of shark fin which is present on all other cars. The fin is only present as a short continuation of the engine cover. The rear wing of the car also looks larger than Williams’ one for example.
The dashboards also appear imposing while covering already massive aeration entries. The nose follows Mercedes’ philosophy from last season, associated with a very aggressive front wing.
About the livery, Mercedes keep their signature metallic grey but highlights the paint contrasts in order to make the car look shinier. The big change comes from the Petronas colours. Indeed, as teased on social media yesterday, Mercedes added some fluorescent moving lines as a reference to their new collaborator: EQPower+.
The Mercedes W08 will be the main weapon of Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas to keep the team title and keep the driver title within the Germano-British team.
