Marc Márquez has also taken the best time of an FP2 session that has been much quicker than the morning session and in which riders have done the laps that haven’t been able to complete during the morning. Lorenzo has finished second with Folger third.
As it happened in Moto3, riders of top class needed to accumulate kilometres after a weather-marked FP1, and in two minutes time the registers from the morning were already beaten.
The winner of the previous race, Andrea Dovizioso, was being the fastest in these first minutes, setting constantly 1:45s. He and Marc Márquez were clearly dominating the session, and the rider on third position was seven tenths behind.
The session was going on calmly, riders were searching for race pace and times weren’t falling. The only rider who managed to get close to the leaders was Jorge Lorenzo. With 15 minutes to go riders started to push, which caused the first crashes, for Álvaro Bautista, the first “victim” of the new chicane, and for Héctor Barberá. On the last 3 minutes, Cal Crutchlow also crashed.
Bautista quickly returned to track and moved up to first with a 1:45.116, which would be beaten by Dani Pedrosa. Now the times were actually falling and the first 1:44s were being set, with Márquez on top. Loris Baz also crashed on the new chicane.
In the end, Márquez took also the best time of this session with an incredible 1:44.295, four tenths ahead of Lorenzo, who finished second with Jonas Folger on third place.
