SILVERSTONE – Lando Norris has taken his first ever pole position in FIA Formula 3 European championship during the first qualifying session of the weekend at Silverstone, England for the first round of the season. The experimented Ilott and Günther followed him.

The battle for pole position was a duel between the Prema Powerteam of Callum Ilott and Maximilian Günther versus the Carlin of Lando Norris. The later was the one who finally took the pole position by 0.006 seconds, despite been a rookie. Ilott and Günther will start alongside the Briton.

The qualifying was really though between the 19 contestants. Norris who was the quickest only had 1.698 seconds of advantage over Keyvan Andres Soori (MotoPark). The team mate of the American-German driver, Joel Eriksson finished fourth despite a poor practice sessions this morning.

Starting from third row will be the Force India Junior driver, Jehan Daruvala (Carlin) who did a really good job in his first qualifying session in the series, finishing fifth, ahead of Ferrari junior Guanyu Zhou (Prema Powerteam).

Completes the top10 Nikita Mazepin (Hitech Grand Prix), Jake Dennis (Carlin), Joey Mawson (Van Amersfoort Racing) and Tadasuke Makino (Hitech Grand Prix).

Outside from the top10 important drivers like Jake Hughes (Hitech Grand Prix) – eleventh, Mick Schumacher (Prema Powerteam) –twelfth, Ralf Aron (Hitech Grand Prix) – thirteenth, Pedro Piquet (Van Amersfoort Racing) –fourteenth or David Beckmann (Van Amersfoort Racing) fifteenth.

Tomorrow the FIA F3 European drivers will have to first compete in the second qualifying session at 14:30 (CET), and then will be all set for the first race of the season at 16:55 (CET).
