Jorge Lorenzo has confirmed all the predictions and set the pole position for MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix. The Yamaha rider leads a Spanish front row with Márquez second, and Viñales third.

The new Michelin tyres were the protagonist of the session. The compound take a long time to warm up, forcing the drivers to do their fastest lap on his second fast lap and not the first.

In Q1, Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda) and Bradley Smith (Monster Yamaha Tech3) got their access to Q2, ahead of Suzuki’s of Aleix Espargaró who crashed out like Aprilia’s of Álvaro Bautista.

Then in Q2, the Ducati didn’t show the potential that they showed during practices. Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) with a perfect out lap set the pole position with 1:54.543.

The Honda’s had to fight to be on top, and that’s what Márquez did. The youngest ever champion set the pole out of time, with a lap of 1:54.2, which of course didn’t count. He has to make up with second position.

Third position for the revelation of the season. Maverick Viñales (Team Suzuki Ecstar) was all-time on top during the season, so he really deserved that position.

The second row is 100% “Italiano” with Iannone, Rossi and Dovizioso completing that. In third row we can see the last rider of the “4 fantastics”, Dani Pedrosa was seventh followed by Héctor Barberá and Pol Espargaró, Crutchlow completes the top 10.
