Yamaha’s Spanish rider has been the fastest today for the first of the three testing days of MotoGP at Sepang. He is ahead of his teammate Valentino Rossi and Honda’s rider Dani Pedrosa.


With a 2:00:684 lap time, Jorge Lorenzo has been the fastest of the day and this for most of the day. This time is 1.6 second slower than Dani Pedrosa’s last pole position time which confirms bikes are still adapting to new electronics and tyres.

Second best time is Valentino Rossi’s, the second official Yamaha rider. The nine times MotoGP world champion is 1.033 second from the Spaniard after 107 laps completed on the Malaysian track.

Dani Pedrosa ends up third, 1.096 second away from Lorenzo after leading the first part of the tests. His teammate Marc Marquez is further down the time sheets on the seventh position, 1.6 second away from the best time.

Nice performance from Ducati with Petrucci in fourth position followed by Iannone fifth and Barbera sixth.

Scott Redding, Aleix Espargaro and Cal Crutchlow close the top 10. The session ended twenty minutes earlier because of the heavy rain.
