Charles Leclerc dominated the FIA F2 free-practice session ahead of Antonio Fuoco and Nyck De Vries.

Three driver changes are to take in consideration : Alex Albon returned to ART GP, Johnny Cecotto had to aboard his season due to lack of financial backing. He was replaced in Rapax by Sergio Canamasas and Raffaele Marciello replaced him at Trident.

In the first stages of practice, the Prema of Charles Leclerc and Antonio Fuoco set the pace. Most of the drivers stopped halfway through the session, leaving Leclerc at the top of the standing with a 1:14.356, more than 3 tenths ahead of Nyck De Vries (Rapax) and Nicholas Latifi (DAMS).

The top of the time sheets did not change for the following 15 minutes except for Fuoco who joined his teammate in the top 2. Several drivers found themselves spinning like Latifi or even Leclerc with a couple of minutes to go. One minute before the drop of the chequered flag, Sergio Sette Câmara (MP Motorsport) stopped on track and the VSC was deployed.

Leclerc set the fastest time of the session ahead of Fuoco and De Vries. Latifi, Rowland, Canamasas, Matsushita, Albon, Boschung and Ghiotto completed the top 10.
