Marvin Kirchhöfer won the first GP3 race in Abu Dhabi despite crossing the finish line 2nd, as his teammate Esteban Ocon got a 5-second penalty. Bernstorff and Eriksson completed the podium.

Ocon kept the lead of the race at the start, but he ran wide on turn 1, for which he was given a 5 second penalty. His rival for the championship, Luca Ghiotto, lost a couple of positions. Ocon led ahead of Ceccon and Kirchhöfer. The Safety Car came on track following an incident between Fong and Celis Jr which left Fong‘s car in the middle of the track.

Ceccon‘s car stoppen when he was 2nd, which could have led him to a win considering Ocon‘s penalty. Ocon led ahead of Kirchhöfer, Bernstorff, Eriksson and Ghiotto, who had run wide several times.

Ocon crossed the line 1st, but his penalty took him out of the podium to finish 4th. It was his teammate Marvin Kirchhöfer who won ahead of Bernstorff and Eriksson. Ghiotto finished right behind of Ocon on 5th followed by Parry, Fuoco, Palou, Isaakyan and Janosz. It will be Palou starting on reverse-grid pole tomorrow, with Ghiotto and Ocon starting 4th and 5th and separated by 6 points only.
