Lewis Hamilton keeps the momentum and sets the fastest lap time of the 2017 pre-season testing day 2 at Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit. He finished ahead of Räikkönen and Ocon.

Today’s morning has been a little bit strange. We saw the debut of Antonio Giovinazzi with Sauber, but the Italian was only able to do 5 laps around the Catalan track because of problems in the power unit.

A similar situation happened in Force India. The British team has been working all night long with the car and has only tested for 2 hours. Enough for Esteban Ocon to complete 27 laps to finish third. However, the Frenchman also had problems with the gearbox and caused a red flag.

Even worse situation in Renault. Jolyon Palmer was only able to complete one lap at the end of the session. Once again, McLaren had to change the power unit, despite the initial 29 laps of Stoffel Vandoorne who beat the time Fernando Alonso set yesterday.

On top of the timesheet finished Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) ahead of Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari). Kevin Magnussen (Haas) finished fourth, ahead of Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso). Behind them finished Lance Stroll (Williams) who made his debut in Formula 1. The Canadian caused an early red flag due to a spin at turn 9.
