Maximilian Günther got his first victory in the European Formula 3 in the Race 2 at the Norisring. He took advantage of the fight between Albon and Leclerc and overtook them in the last moment. Leclerc is 54.5 points ahead of Rosenqvist in the championship.

Russell overtook Albon for the lead at the start. Dennis was 3rd followed by Leclerc, Giovinazzi and Rosenqvist.

Some aggressive moves showed up again during the first laps. First, a contact without consequences between Günther and his teammate Ferrucci, and later the retirement of Tveter caused by Tatiana Calderón.

Before the Safety Car, Russell went off the track and lost his first position, giving it back to Albon. The second Safety Car appeared shortly after, when Michele Beretta’s car ended up upside down after contact with Solomon.

In the restart, Leclerc overtook Dennis for podium position. This was followed by a multiple accident with Ferrucci, Giovinazzi and Dennis.

The Safety Car went out again, but it wouldn’t be the last time, as an accident between Schiller and Fittipaldi would bring it back on track.

With 3 minutes for the end of the race, Russell and Leclerc overtook Albon for the first place. Leclerc managed to get ahead of Russell, but he ran wide, which allowed Günther to get the lead followed by Albon, Leclerc and Stroll. He’d get the first win for Mücke since the Macau Grand Prix.
