After a difficult first day of testing, Romain Grosjean is back on track today to close the first week in Barcelona on a wet track.

Haas’ first days in 2017 have been quite successful with two top 5 with Kevin Magnussen. However, Romain Grosjean went less lucky on Wednesday, which does not prevent him for being positive about the week:

“The week has been rather positive, we started well. It’s a different story compared to last year when everything was new so we are pretty happy with this first week. We also discovered wet tyres in different conditions, but we also have our new F1 cars which are very sexy and go very fast.”

Romain Grosjean could test the new wet tyres of Pirelli and drew a first conclusion upon them:

“In the beginning of the day, we had very stable conditions with extreme tyres, then the track dried out very quickly and we destroyed the inter tyres.”

Although the wetting conditions of the track have been criticized by the journalists, Grosjean acknowledges the need of such sessions :

“When it rains, the conditions always change anyway; we know the rivers may change, that it can rain more or less hard and that it also changes with the number of cars on track.

“I think there has been a massive reflection done following Brazil where many drivers spun in the main straight. Pirelli listened well and I think they have done a good job.”

The Frenchman is currently still on track, Haas being one of the few teams to only run one driver today.
