Antonio Giovinazzi passed as leader the chequered flag for the Sprint Race in GP2 this weekend, just in front on Gustav Malja and Luca Ghiotto, the drivers who started from the first row of the grid. Gasly was fourth while Sirotkin ninth but awaiting an investigation.

Amazing race the one lived today in GP2. Clean during most of the laps and good fights in half-grid. Antonio Giovinazzi (Prema Powerteam) could make positions until the victory, taking it from Malja (Rapax). The Swedish finished just behind the Italian, as today he did have the pace, unlike yesterday.

Start of the race was a little accidented, with Gasly (Prema Powerteam), winner yesterday, giving a touch, being investigated for it – without further action – and leaving the first turn with a damaged front wing. This did not stop him from doing and amazing race and quickly recovering into the eighth position by passing Sirotkin (ART Grand Prix) and Rowland (MP Motorsport). In front, Giovinazzi did a great start by winning a position from his fellow countryman Luca Ghiotto (Trident) and maintaining just behind the polesitter Malja.

In some laps and taking advantage from the DRS Giovinazzi would pass Malja, although the Swedish maintained just behind the Italian. Behind, Gasly was still making positions and was fifth by having passed King (Racing Engineering). Then, he passed Markelov (Russian Time) as the Russian had to fight with King, recovering his eventual taken position in an amazing move in Eau Rouge.

The Russian although had the tyres too worn and could do anything more than that. While Gasly passed his teammate Marciello, he was overtaken by Lynn (DAMS), who lately would pass King also. Rowland got to Markelov while attacked by Sirotkin and at very last turn of the race the Russian threw himself in such a rash way he touched his fellow countryman Markelov, by taking him away when was sixth. Markelov was so angry, and despite apologizing via radio, seems like investigation will incriminate Sirotkin.

This means even more advantage to Pierre Gasly, who leaves Spa-Francorchamps strong at the championship and a motivated Prema Powerteam by having won both races this weekend. Next stop is Monza, for the Italian Grand Prix!
