Callum Ilott has been the quickest in the practice sessions of FIA Formula 3 European championship at Silverstone, for the first round of the season. The Carlin’s of Lando Norris and Jehan Daruvala followed him.

In the first practice session the local driver, Callum Ilott (Prema Powerteam) set a one-two of Britons with the rookie driver Lando Norris (Carlin) in second position. Behind them, finished the German Maximilian Günther (Prema Powerteam) while Jake Dennis (Carlin) who is back in the series finished fourth.

Closing the top 5 finished the Russian, Nikita Mazepin (Hitech GP), who finished ahead of Guanyu Zhou (Prema Powerteam), Harrison Newey (Van Amersfoort Racing), Joey Mawson (Van Amersfoort Racing), Mick Schumacher (Prema Powerteam) and the 2016 rookie champion, Joel Eriksson (Motopark).

In the second practice all the drivers improved their laptimes, but once again, Ilott and Norris were the quickest ahead of Sahara Force India junior driver, Jehan Daruvala (Carlin) and his team mate Dennis.

Günther completed the top 5 ahead of Ferrari junior driver Zhou. On seventh place finished the runner-up of 2016 EuroFormula Open, Ferdinand Habsburg (Carlin), while Mazepin, Schumacher and Pedro Piquet (Van Amersfoort Racing) completed the top10.

This afternoon it will be held the first qualifying session at 18:40 Central European Time.
