Mitch Evans and Sean Gelael will race with Campos Racing in the GP2 Series this season. Furthermore, the team from Alzira announced a two-year deal with Jagonya Ayam, Gelael’s main sponsor.

Campos Racing will have a complete different line-up this year. Both Rio Haryanto and Arthur Pic left the team for New-Zealander Mitch Evans and Indonesian Sean Gelael.

These last two years, Evans has been one of the strongest drivers in the category, finishing 4th and 5th of the last two championships with Russian Time. Kiwi driver previously won the GP3 championship in 2012 and the Toyota Racing Series in 2010 and 2011. Since then, he also did well in endurance racing, finishing second of Le Mans 2015 in LMP2 and taking part of young drivers testing with Porsche’s LMP1.

Gelael though, has a more modest career in motorsport. But even if he is only 19 year-old, he already raced in GP2, Formula Renault 3.5, FIA F3 and Formula Pilota China where he scored his only victory in single seaters back in 2012. He recently won the 3 Hours of Thailand alongside Antonio Giovinazzi in Asian Le Mans Series.

On the other hand, Jagonya Ayam will be Campos Racing’s main sponsor in GP2 for the next two years.
