Felipe Drugovich took the last win of the week-end at the Sachsenring for a full Van Amersfoort Racing podium.

With three Dutch cars on the two front rows, they only needed Nicklas Nielsen (US Racing) to stall on the grid for a 1-2-3 lead for VAR. The race was first interrupted by the off of Julian Hanses (US Racing) who had won the first race of the week-end.

At the restart, Felipe Drugovich overtook Frederik Vesti for P2 and Juri Vips (Prema Powerteam) put himself in P4. A few minutes later, Oliver Södeström (Mücke Motorsport) also found himself in the gravel which brought the safetycar out for a second time in the race.

There was no change in the hierarchy at the restart but after a couple of laps, Drugovich eventually overtook his new teammate, Artem Petrov for the lead. The places didn’t change despite Leonard Hoogenboom going into the gravel with 2 minutes to go, without bringing the safety car out again.

Felipe Drugovich took his fifth victory of the season. Artem Petrov and Frederik Vesti also offered VAR its first 1-2-3 in history. Vips, Scherer, Armstrong, Flörsch, Zendeli, Nielsen and Malukas completed the top 10.

The battle for the drivers’ championship title tightens as only 21.5 points separate Armstrong in the lead and Drugovich 3rd with 3 races to go. Meanwhile, Prema Powerteam sealed their team title.
