The GP3 grid for the 2018 season is almost complete after two days with lots of confirmations. One of the teams that already have its entire line-up confirmed is Campos Racing, who has now announced the hiring of Mexican driver Diego Menchaca after having already confirmed Simo Laaksonen and Leonardo Pulcini.

Menchaca, aged 23, will make his series debut after finishing third on the last Formula V8 3.5 season in 2017, where he raced for Fortec and achieved a podium finish. Previously, he raced in EuroFormula Open for two years, finishing fourth on the standings in 2016 with Campos, a team to which he returns now for his GP3 Series debut.

With this announcement, the Spanish team, led by Adrián Campos, already has its entire line-up for the upcoming season confirmed. Three new faces are joining to the team, being Leonardo Pulcini the only driver with previous experience on the series.

“I’m very happy to be back with Campos Racing, in such a competitive environment as GP3 is. My relationship with the team has been built over the past four years, so basically they’re my family.” Said Menchaca on the Campos Racing official press release. “We evaluated many different scenarios for the 2018 season which included Japan and also the USA, but in the end together with Escuderia Telmex and my backers we decided that what Adrián offered was the best program available for me this year. I know the team went through a couple of difficult seasons, but after being at the workshop over the past week it’s very clear to me that the potential for good results is there, I can’t wait for testing to begin.”

The 2018 GP3 Series season will begin the 12th of May at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit. The first official pre-season testing days are currently underway at the Paul Ricard Circuit.
