On their last lap, Carlin drivers Jehan Daruvala, Jake Dennis and Lando Norris have taken top three positions of a session that has been stopped due to an incident caused by Harrison Newey.

Twenty-minute session, which decided grid order for first race, started and Tadasuke Makino was the first driver to go on track. However, the first competitive time was a 1:48.744 set by Joey Mawson. This register was quickly improved by Callum Ilott, who did a 1:47.615 and, later, a 1:46.110.

In the middle of the session, Jake Hughes improved the time to a 1:45.907. But all drivers were quickly improving and Joel Eriksson moved up to first with a 1:44.554. With seven minutes remaining, Harrison Newey left the track and the session was red-flagged.

A few minutes later, session restarted and Ilott took lead again with a 1:44.370. Chequered flag was already waving, but Carlin drivers Jake Dennis, Lando Norris and Jehan Daruvala took the first three positions on their last attempt, being Indian driver the one on Pole with a 1:44.105, followed by his British teammates. Championship leaders, Eriksson and Ilott, finished sixth and fourth respectively.

First race of the weekend will be held tomorrow 29th at 11:05 local time. Later on the day, at 16:45, the second qualifying session, which decides the grid order for races 2 and 3, will start. Second and third race are set to start on Sunday 30th at 11:00 and 15:15 respectively.
