Before Group 3, Group 2 was heavily competitive with Bird (Virgin Racing), D’Ambrosio (Dragon Racing) and Lucas Di Grassi (ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport) who fight for top3. There it was also Nicolas Prost (Renault e.dams) but the son of 4-times Formula 1 world champion, damaged his front wing at his flying lap and had to resign himself with a final sixth place.

Sébastien Buemi finished as the fastest of Qualifying before the Superpole knockout, where him and Lucas Di Grassi made a mistake that move the title contenders to 4th and 5th for staring grid. Jérôme d’Ambrosio took his first ever pole position in Formula E, his first ever of his motorsport career since 2010 in GP2 Series with Dams in Spa-Francorchamps.
