It is with pleasure that Carlin can confirm and finalise their 2017 F4 British Championship Certified by FIA – powered by Ford line up with the announcement that British racer Jamie Caroline will complete the four car team. Caroline, who already has experience of the competitive Series, has been testing with the team in the lead up to the season and will join previously confirmed drivers Patrik Pasma, Logan Sargeant and Lucas Alecco Roy in the British team.
18 year old Caroline has a strong track record already in the F4 British Championship following a rookie season which has seen him take a great series of results including one win and five podiums which saw him finish tenth overall in the standings. Continuing his form, Caroline later took part in the BRDC British Formula Three Autumn Trophy – a standalone weekend event which saw him clinch one podium ensuring he finished the weekend in a great fifth position dealing well with the challenges of a different car.
In anticipation of the upcoming season, Caroline has been testing with the car alongside his three team mates at a series of official pre-season tests – including recently at Donington for the Championship Media Day. Caroline’s speed has been underlined with a series of strong results in all of these tests as the opening round at Brands Hatch draws ever closer.
“I’m really excited to be joining Carlin for the upcoming year,” said Caroline. “I was fighting hard against their drivers last year in the championship and they have a great reputation having won the championship for the past two seasons. They are a perfect fit for me and will give me the best platform to fight for the championship this season. We’ve been working well so far in pre-season testing so I think we can continue this and have a strong year. I want to say thank you to my sponsors for making this happen – it’s going to be a very exciting year and I look forward to racing hard.”
Trevor Carlin said, “We are thrilled to have Jamie on board for the season – he is a strong talent who we have been watching and enjoyed competing against last year. Caroline was definitely a driver to watch over the course of the year and even in pre-season testing with us so far he has been fully committing himself and working extremely well with the team. It’s going to be very exciting to have him on board and see what he can achieve this season as we fully expect that he’ll be a title challenger.”
Caroline, Pasma, Sargeant and Roy will be back out on track for further pre-season testing before the season gets underway at the very start of April with the opening round at Brands Hatch.
