Daniel Abt set the fastest time of the opening day of the second collective Formula E test at Donington today. The 1:30.250 Abt set ended up 0.771 seconds quicker than Nicolas Prost. (team/driver) put the highest number of laps on the board: V in total.

While it was a good day for Abt, the same could not be said for Amlin Andretti and Trulli unfortunately. Test 1 woes continued for these two teams; Trulli were not present, while the Andretti of Simona De Silvestro couldn’t make it past turn 1 of her first outlap of the day. Now halfway through pre-season testing, the likelihood of these teams gaining necessary experience and data before the journey to Beijing is minimal.

Taking over the Aguri machine today was Nicolas Lapierre. The Frenchman continued Aguri’s trend of setting more laps than anyone else, today with V accumulated over the 6 hours of running. It’s another fresh French face in the Aguri tomorrow as Nathanael Berthon takes over.

It wasn’t entirely smooth sailing for drivers’ champions NEXTEV TCR or team champions Renault e.dams. Both Nelson Piquet and Sébastien Buemi stopped on track, summoning a red flag.

Testing continues tomorrow at Donington Park at 9 am local time.
