Motopark has confirmed the fourth to be part of its line-up for the upcoming FIA F3 European seasion. It will be Jonathan Aberdein, who will move to the series after winning F4 UAE last year, which he did racing for Motopark.

The beginning of the next FIA F3 European season is getting closer and the grid is already taking shape. Today, Motopark has confirmed another for its line-up, Jonathan Aberdein, an 18-year old South-African driver.

Aberdein will leap to the series after two years racing in different F4 championships. In 2016, he made his single-seater debut in the ADAC German F4, in which he finished fourteenth. On the winter, when European competitions were already finished, he raced in F4 UAE, where he dominated and won the title with 14 wins out of 18 races. Next year, he did his second ADAC F4 season and finished in ninth place. On his two years in single-seaters, he drove for Motopark, the team which now gives him the chance to take his next step to F3.

Aberdein will be the second driver (so far) to make his F3 debut after winning any F4, being Marcus Armstrong (Prema Racing), Italian F4 champion, the other one. Motopark is expected, however, to sign ADAC F4 champion Juri Vips. At this moment, the South-African driver’s teammates will be Marino Sato, Fabio Scherer and Dan Ticktum.

“I feel ready to fight for the title in F3 this year,” said Aberdein. “After two very successful years with Team Motopark in Formula 4, it was a no-brainer to stay with this outfit for F3 because they give me all the tools I need to continue my way up the ladder.”

The 18-year old driver will make his debut on the series the 12th of May, the day when the season will start, with the iconic Pau street circuit as season opener.
