Driver switch in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship: US-American Santino Ferrucci (Fortec Motorsports) leaves Team Eurointernational to contest the final to race meetings of the season (at Imola and Hockenheim) for Fortec Motorsports. The 16-year old who joined the FIA Formula 3 European Championship only in June currently holds 16th position in the championship.

Santino Ferrucci is the youngest driver on this year’s FIA Formula 3 European Championship grid. To race in the series you should be 16 years old and so, Ferrucci who turned 16 only in late May, could make his debut only on the fifth race weekend of the season – at Spa-Francorchamps, one of the most challenging circuits on our planet. At the Norisring he secured his best results to date by clinching a fourth and a fifth place.

“Eurointernational attended to me for about a year after I executed my first Formula 3 test for them,” explained Ferrucci. “They guided me through the first 12 months of my car-racing career und always gave their very best. I want to thank them for their effort, they were a great team for me. But now I have reached a point in my career where I feel that switching the team will take me a step further. This move will allow me to learn something new and I hope it will help me growing as driver.”

His contact to Fortec Motorsports commenced many years ago, reveals Ferrucci: “I met Fortec Motorsports Team Principal Richard Dutton five years ago for the first time and since that day, I always wanted to race for them. They can look back on a successful history in young-driver motor racing and I hope to be able to add other successful chapter to this history, now.”
